Characteristics of Walnut

American walnut is distributed mainly in the eastern United States, is among the few species of trees that are both planted and naturally regenerated in this country. The sapwood is creamy-white, the heartwood is brown with varying shades from light to dark-brown. When exposed to UV rays, this heartwood will shine beautifully.

Physical and mechanical properties

Walnut is a very hard wood with medium density, moderate bending and compressive strength, it is also well known for its durable even in perishable conditions.

Good quality, easy to stick to screws and glue well, high dimensional stabilities… are typical specifications of Walnut. This species is very suitable for hot and humid tropical weather in Vietnam as it does not warp or shrink under the influence of hot weather.

Characteristics of Walnut veneer

Similar to the veneer of other trees, walnut veneer has all the properties of Walnut logs in terms of color, grain shape, durability, and other physical and mechanical properties.

The color of Walnut veneer after being processed will be more or less changed depending on the desired density. For example, to create a chocolate brown walnut color with a lot of purple light, the workshop of Buon Ma Thuot Company will incubate the wet veneer for a longer time before drying.

Walnut wood is increasingly popular these days. Some famous car manufacturers such as Rolls Royce and Bentley have also used Walnut for the interior of their limited edition products.
