CHARACTERISTICS OF OAK AND VENEER OAK

Characteristics of Oak

Oak is a hardwood tree with high natural durability, resistance to decay, and good waterproofing, thus,  it can be used for outdoor furniture while using no additional preservatives. However, it is necessary to consider the climatic factors of each region to keep the best product's durability and finest.

Generally speaking, American white Oak and European white Oak are similar in color and shape. Its sapwood is pale, while heartwood is light brown to dark brown. Most have straight grain, medium to sparse surface with longer rays than Red Oak.

Physical and mechanical properties

American oak has moderate torsional and compressive strength, low hardness but is very easy to steam bend. The overall durability of Oak is quite high, thus it is increasingly used by architects and designers.

Characteristics of veneer Oak

In fact, oak veneer is sliced from natural round oak logs, hence it has all the properties of oak in terms of color, grain shape, durability, and other physical and mechanical properties. Besides, after being sliced, oak veneer will be processed to different standards to help increase the durability of the wood to the environment and external influences. For example, when the oak veneer arrives at the customer's hand, the moisture content is less than 10%, so the shrinkage will be very low (much smaller than the 12.6% shrinkage).

Besides, Buon Ma Thuot veneer can also provide customers with a variety of oak veneers that are decorated with horizontal, diagonal, submersible, island, etc., in order to bring impressive and unique beauty to the product.
